Then I found a Finnish lady, who helps people to buy PRE horses from Spain and I contacted her. She helped me and I got my mule. But.. the mule wasn't quite the mule I was supposed to get. I was told that she is 158 cm tall but when she arrived, she was much smaller. She was also VERY shy and hard to catch.
And I had paid for 2 months training before she was transported to Finland.
It took me 2 months until she let me to pet her in the pen without haltering her first but after that she started to trust me more and more. At Septemver 2016 I was able to sit on her back (on a lead off course) and I rode her couple of times with the saddle before winter. I continued riding the next summer when she was 4 years old and I also had talented young rider training her.
But we had two big problems. Mounting issues and bolting. She seemed to be okay with the rider on her back, but mounting was problematic. And usuallu bolting followed mounting.
I sent Muuli to a trainer 1/2018 and she stayed there for 6 months. The trainer worked mainly with the bolting and mounting. The trainer did very good work and now I can mount her (still working on it every time) and ride her on the arena and on the trail with or without company.
My main goal is to have a mule that goes happily on the trails with loose reins. And finally I have one.
